The Curious Game

About The Project

Potluck Arts welcomed Australian company Born in a Taxi in June 2017 to Northwest Arkansas for a residency of free outdoor immersive theatrical experiences. This project’s impact was wide reaching thanks to partnerships with 3 varying organizations Arts Center of the Ozarks, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and Rodeo of the Ozarks. The unexpected joy of happening upon a chess game full of audience participation or roaming zebras at a western dance made for an unforgettable experience in Northwest Arkansas.

About The Performance

A show like no other, where the world of fairytales and board games collide with the audience. In Curious Game, children and adults become chess pieces on an oversized chess board. With much pomp and ceremony, a Bossy Queen, a Silly Knight, and a Cunning Pawn use cue cards to conduct an ever-changing game, where no one knows what the rules are, and everyone’s a winner.
